michael wilson styled hair in portsmouth, new hampshire, for over 15 years before following a lifelong dream to live and work in new york city. while there, he completed a two-year apprenticeship program with bumble and bumble salon, refining his craft in haircutting while expanding his creative horizons.

in addition to bumble and bumble, michael has attended cutting classes with vidal sassoon, is always refining his hair painting skills, and received master color expert certification at wella world studio nyc. he has styled hair for new york fashion week and travels to the city every five weeks to maintain his nyc clientele.

after his years in nyc, michael decided to return to the seacoast area. the result is modern love, a space rooted in continuing education and exploring creativity.

melinda towle

melinda has trained with aveda in minneapolis, arrojo studios and l’oreal in nyc, one on one razor cutting with the left brain group, and received master color expert certification at wella world studio nyc. learning new highlighting and hair painting techniques are what continue to fuel melinda’s interest in creating easy, natural looking hair. she has worked in some of portsmouth’s top salons, local fashion events and runway shows.

melinda returned to the chair full-time after earning her masters and working in education for a few years. her passion for hair and a core of longtime clients is what brought her back to hair full-time. melinda loves working with color, connecting with people and discovering styles that match their lives and desires.

lindsay davis

the connection between art and caring for others is the reason lindsay is so passionate about her career. with a focus on natural looking color lindsay loves creating custom low-maintenance looks for each person. after many years of training and mentorship at the jessica todd salon, lindsay went on to the l’oréal professionel academy and became certified as a master colorist. she finds the title of master colorist a bit silly because there’s always something to learn, but she’s earned it. the constant change and growth that comes with being a colorist is one of the many reasons why lindsay is still in love with her career more than 15 years later.
